Installation and using WinZip©

Q : What do I do with my Zip-file ?
A : The file you have is compressed and will need to be 'unpacked'. You will need to have WinZip installed on your computer. Other decompression utilities can be used, but we recommend you use WinZip as this is what was used to compress the files. WinZip is shareware and you can get WinZip from PC magazine cover CDs or from www.download.com. Once WinZip is on your PC, you can double-click on the zipped aircraft file to open it up. You will see something like this -

Click on the 'Extract' button (see arrow) and use the WinZip browser window to browse to the ROOT folder of your chosen simulator.

Q : Where is the ROOT folder ?
A : This is the folder which is at the top of the directory tree of the sim, by default this is 'Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004' for FS2004, or 'Microsoft Flight Simulator X' for FSX, for example. Here is an example of WinZip about to extract into the default "FS9" root:

Click on 'Extract' and the files will all go into the simulator and will all be placed in their correct folders.
TIP - DO NOT click on any of the files in the WinZip window before clicking on 'Extract' - this will mean that only the file(s) you clicked on will be installed and the rest will be left behind. If this happens, just close and re-open the window and re-extract without clicking on the files in the window. Overwrite the originals when prompted.
